DUTIES OF THE COUNTY ASSESSOR'S OFFICE
  • Assess all personal, business, residential and farm property in Washington County
  • Process all inheritance tax forms for estates in Washington County
  • Secretary for the Washington County Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals
  • President of the Washington County Land Commission
  • Keep updated property record cards for all properties in Washington County
  • Sell Buggy License
  • Sell Dog License Tags
  • Provide Auditor with all values for tax billing
  • Provide Auditor with values for Homestead Exemptions
  • File and process all non-taxable exemptions for churches, lodges, etc. Filed each even-numbered year
  • Conduct instructional meeting for Township Assessors
  • Process all property transfers and figure values for all buildings and land
  • Process all sales disclosures and keep on file
  • Provide all materials for Township Assessors
