WASHINGTON COUNTY LANDFILL INFORMATION

The Landfill DOES NOT ACCEPT the following:

1. Out of County Trash
2. Motor Oil (designated place for used oil)
3. Appliance (drop off at area near entrance) Note: TV’s, Dishwashers, and Microwaves go into the landfill
4. Wet-Cell Batteries (designated place for wet-cell batteries)
5. Organic Material (trees, stumps, tree limbs, leaves, grass clippings)- Entrance located south of Landfill entrance
6. Heavy Steel (cast iron tubs, engines, etc.) Drop off at area near entrance to landfill
7. Wet Paint (let it set out and dry, then it is acceptable)
8. Flyable Asbestos (can become air born)
9. Tires (designated bin for tires) first 4 per day are free, $2.00 per tire thereafter. All 16” or greater are $6.00 each, none accepted free.

CHARGES

$16.50* per ton for commercial haulers and for residential demolition material, $2.75 per cubic yard.
Minimum charge of $10.00 per load for all loads containing demolition material.

*Beginning January 1, 2008, the charge will be $18.50 for commercial haulers and $3.08 per cubic yard for residantal demolition materials.

Demolition Material: Anything that is torn out such as:

CARPET - PADDING - TILE FLOORS - CEILING TiLES - WINDOWS - DOORS -
KITCHEN CABINETS - SHINGLES - SIDING - RUBBLE - FENCING - INSULATION - ETC.

ORGANIC FACILITY

If a person wants to separate wood from demolition loads, they may drop wood off at the organic facility (free of charge*). The material MUST BE 100% WOOD, nails in wood are acceptable. No man-made material such as press board can be taken to the organic site.

*Currently free of charge, charges for use of the Organic Facility will become effective as of January 1, 2008. When rates are known, they will be posted on this page.

Both the Organic Facility and the Landfill observe the same operating hours.
Open Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 A.M. — 4:00 P.M.:
Open Hours: 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month — 7:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
Both facilities are Closed on Sunday
Both facilities are also closed on the following Holidays:
January 1. Memorial Day, July 4. Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas

LEARN TO RECYCLE SPECIAL WASTE ITEMS

DROP-TRAILERS AND THE LANDFILL

  • Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, catalogs, telephone books, office paper, newspaper inserts, used books, other clean paper items
  • Cardboard-corrugated, lightweight, cereal and other boxes, grocery sacks, paper feed sacks
  • Glass jars - all colors - labels O.K. No flat glass such as window panes. Put tin lids from glass jars in with tin cans.
  • Tin cans - labels O.K. - aluminum foil, pie plates, any aluminum item except for aluminum cans. Aerosol cans must be put with your garbage.
  • Aluminum Cans

  • Oil-engine, hydraulic, transmission
  • Anti-freeze
  • White goods - appliances
  • All plastics, #1-7 (use specially marked trailer)
